VARSFONTEIN OFFER OUTSTANDING DRAFT AT CAPE SALE

Varsfontein Stud, one of South Africa’s top stud farms will be offering an excellent draft at the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale.

The farm, whose past Cape Sale drafts have offered the buyers the chance to buy the likes of Australian G1 winner Yulong Prince, as well as graded stakes winners Doosra, Green Pepper and Hack Green, will be offering a high-class string, with Varsfontein’s consignment including yearlings by some of South Africa’s top stallions and hailing from outstanding female lines.

Varsfontein’s resident champion sire Gimmethegreenlight (whose progeny include the aforementioned Yulong Prince, Green Pepper and Hack Green) has three well bred yearlings on sale.

Alphenaandenrijn (Lot 101) is a half-brother to Listed Swallow Stakes winner All At Once, and his dam is a winning full-sister to the Golden Slipper winning dam of US G1 winner Oleksandra, and Right Turn On Red (Lot 158) is a filly out of a winning half-sister to the G3 winning Hashtagyolo, with this filly bred on similar lines to G2 Umkhomazi Stakes victor Hack Green.

Varsfontein will also be offering, as agent, Jury’s Out (Lot 35) -a Gimmethegreenlight colt whose seven time winning dam is a half-sister to 3 black type horses, notably G1 Golden Slipper queen Chestnuts N Pearls.

Gimmethegreenlight’s stablemate, the Varsfontein Stud bred Master Of My Fate, goes from strength to strength as a sire, and that son of Jet Master has five yearlings in this draft. Wedding Bells (Lot 58) is a filly whose dam is a half-sister to G2 SA Fillies Nursery winner Dash For Gretna, Angel Of Fate (Lot 104) is a filly out of a full-sister to the dam of graded stakes winners Cousin Liz and Gimme One Night, and Anamericaninvenice (Lot 137), a half-brother to the useful Permesso Avanti, is out of G3 Magnolia Handicap runner up, and four time winner, Dolomiti.

The farm will also be offering, as agent, the Master Of My Fate filly Resigned To Fate (Lot 140) whose third dam is outstanding racemare Salsabil -herself an Irish Derby winning half-sister to G1 winning miler, and top-class sire, Marju.

Querari is another top sire represented in Varsfontein’s Cape Sale draft, with the son of Oasis Dream responsible for two yearlings on offer. Querandi (Lot 114) is a filly out of a half-sister to G1 Golden  Horseshoe hero War Horse, and Questor (Lot 160) is a son of Gypsy Madonna -a twice winning, Fort Wood half-sister to multiple G1 winner Gypsy’s Warning.

Dubawi’s dual G1 winning son Erupt, already off the mark as a sire, has three yearlings on offer here. Kintamani (Lot 59) is a colt whose dam is a half-sister to former Cape Derby winner Eyes Wide Open and Red Hot Lava (Lot119) is out of a half-sister to star Eastern Cape galloper Yoshie -herself the dam of smart recent debut winner Cleaver Greene.

Varsfontein are also offering, as agent, Diamond Rock (Lot 141) -an Erupt half-brother to 3 useful winners, with this colt’s dam a half-sister to the G1 winners Amberpondo and Ethereal Lady.

Other attractive lots in this draft include Pressonregardless (Lot 31), a Lancaster Bomber half-brother to Champion Juvenile Cup winner Peace In Our World, Golden Sickle (Lot 89), a Vercingetorix filly whose twice stakes winning dam is a full-sister to dual G1 winner Snowdance, Fireside Treat (Lot 102), a What A Winter filly (Lot 102) out of a full-sister to the smart Gottalottaluv and half-sister to G2 winning sire Gold Standard, and Two A Penny (Lot 39). The latter is a filly by Twice Over out of a G3 placed own sister to G1 Vodacom Durban July victor Belgarion.
