WILGERBOSDRIFT BRINGS HIGH-CLASS DRAFT TO CAPE SALE

Leading thoroughbred nursery, Wilgerbosdrift, continue to churn out high-class racehorses, with the likes of Desert Miracle, Rainbow Bridge and Sparkling Water among the Piketberg farm’s numerous recent flagbearers.

Wilgerbosdrift will be offering another top-class consignment to the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale, with this draft headed by yearlings by such stallions as Danon Platina, Erupt, Fire Away, Flower Alley, Master Of My Fate, Rafeef and The United States.

The farm’s exciting young War Front horse Fire Away, whose granddam is unbeaten champion Personal Ensign, has five yearlings from his first crop on offer in this draft. Down By The River (Lot 29) is a colt out of a twice winning daughter of the Oaks winning Sweetie Pie, while the latter’s close relative Quintessential (dam of high-class two-year-old Oomph) is represented here by the Fire Away colt Protagaganist (Lot 42), and Sweetie Pie’s daughter Fudge has a Fire Away filly (Lot 154) filly on sale by the name of Marshmellow.

Very much inform stallion Flower Alley, like Fire Away a resident at Wilgerbosdrift, has four lots on offer here. They include Flower Festival (Lot 17), a filly out of G3 Acacia Handicap winner Milk And Honey, Pisces (23) a colt out of G3 Strelitzia Stakes queen Neptune’s Rain, and Birdcage Walk (Lot 142). The latter is a half-sister to Can’thelpbelieving, a graded stakes winner in both Canada and the USA and this filly hails from the immediate family of the National Stud’s exciting new sire Lope Y Fernandez among others.

Galladorn (Lot 13) is a Potala Palace half-brother to G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Melliflora, while Ambrym (Lot 20) is an Erupt half-sister to Bloodstock South Africa Cape Yearling Sale Cup winner Mounia.

Malmaison, whose previous foals include G2 The Debutante winner Rosier, is represented here by Symbol Of Love (Lot 14), a filly by the very popular sire The United States, while Touch Of Tuscan, whose G3 winning daughter Negroamaro ranks as the dam of current high-class 3yo Outofthedarkness, has an Oratorio filly called Nellie Melba (Lot 80) on the sale.

Other attractive lots on offer include the Rafeef filly Heliotrope (Lot 94), whose granddam is a half-sister to G1 Fillies’ Mile winner Crystal Music, and Oni-San (Lot 149). The latter, a filly from the first crop of Japanese champion Danon Platina, is out of a winning half-sister to former record priced yearling, and G3 Peninsula Handicap winner, Wonder Lawn, and this filly’s granddam is Roy’s G1 winning daughter Velvet Green.
