Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting young stallion Fire Away has made a flying start with his first runners this season.
Fire Away’s first five two-year-old runners yielded a pair of impressive winners in the form of Fire ‘N Flames and Luna Halo, who broke their respective maidens by four lengths and five and a quarter lengths respectively.
Fire Away added to that tally when his son Except Temptation, a leading contender for Saturday’s Bloodstock SA Sales Cup, made a sparkling, winning debut over 1200 metres recently.
A son of outstanding sire War Front, and grandson of unbeaten champion Personal Ensign, Fire Away looks to be a young stallion with a bright future ahead of him.
Wilgerbosdrift will be offering three Fire Away colts at this year’s Cape Yearling Sale and they are bound to attract attention!
Chinaberry (Lot 8) is a colt from the family of outstanding milers Polish Precedent and Zilzal, Lights On (Lot 50) is a colt related to Breeders’ Cup winning champion English Channel, while Fire Away colt Sky Pillar Rock (Lot 106) is a colt bred on a very similar cross to the War Front sired G1 Preakness Stakes winner War Of Will.
This draft also includes five yearlings from the first crop of Wilgerbosdrift’s resident Redoute’s Choice horse Buffalo Bill Cody, as well as yearlings sired by the likes of Danon Platina, Ideal World, The United States and What A Winter.
Wilgerbosdrift’s draft for the 2023 Cape Yearling Sale can be found in Block A at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth racecourse.
