Wilgerbosdrift, one of South Africa’s leading thoroughbred nurseries and breeders of the recently crowned Horse Of The Year Rainbow Bridge, will be offering a superb draft at this year’s August Two Year Old Sale.
The Piketberg farm will be offering lots sired by such high-class and popular stallions as Dynasty, Elusive Fort, Flower Alley, Ideal World, Master Of My Fate, Rafeef, Silvano and What A Winter, and will also be offering two-year-olds out of some top-class mares.
One such is example is Herero Secret (Lot 224), a Dynasty own brother to last season’s brilliant G2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper winner Desert Miracle, with this colt a son of G2 winning millionaire Welwitschia.
Former G1 SA Fillies Classic heroine Orchid Island has a Querari filly (Lot 108) on offer by the name of Follow The Flow, while Equus Champion Laverna is represented in this draft by Morgan Le Fay (Lot 60), a filly by last season’s Leading First Season Sire Rafeef.
Promontory (Lot 313) is a colt by multiple champion sire Silvano out of Rock Of Gibraltar’s dual G1 winning daughter Europa Point, while Holy Orders (Lot 147) is a colt by the Wilgerbosdrift bred champion and leading sire Dynasty out of Saint Mary -a half-sister to international G1 winners Lily Of The Valley and Mubtaahij.
Wilgerbosdrift’s successful resident stallion Flower Alley has lots on offer here, including Eden Of Africa (Lot 13), a filly out of Montjeu’s G2 winning daughter Gorongosa, Festooned (Lot 109) a filly out of a half-sister to G1 winning filly Athina, Mother Of Pearl (Lot 112) a filly from the same female line as last season’sTriple Crown winner Malmoos, and Fastinova (Lot 206). The latter is a half-brother to four winners including G3 Fillies Mile victress Negroamaro.
Former G1 SA Derby winner Out Of Your League has a half-sister (Lot 67), by promising sire The United States, on sale by the name of Grande Bacio, while Out Of Your League’s sire Elusive Fort is represented in this draft by a filly (Lot 283) by the name of Butterfly Beauty. The latter is directly descended in female line from legendary broodmare Fall Aspen, whose champion son Fort Wood is the sire of Elusive Fort himself.
Other attractive lots on offer include Tamarisk Tree (Lot 81), an Ideal World colt out of G3 winner Milk And Honey, Glittering Girl (Lot 88), a Rafeef own sister to BSA Cape Yearling Sale Cup winner Mounia, and River Romeo (Lot 242).
