WILGERBOSDRIFT TO PRESENT A SPARKLING DRAFT AT AUGUST SALE

Wilgerbosdrift, one of the top thoroughbred farms in South Africa, enjoyed a memorable and historic success last season when the Wilgerbosdrift bred and owned Sparkling Water captured the G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July.

A daughter of Silvano and top-class racemare Espumanti, the brilliant Sparkling Water won five races last season, with her scores including not only the 2022 July but also the G2 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers and G3 Victory Moon Stakes. Also runner up in the G1 TAB The Premier’s Champions Challenge and third in the G1 HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes last season, Sparkling Water has already earned over R4.354 million in prize money.

Wilgerbosdrift are giving buyers a chance to acquire their own Sparkling Water when the Piketberg farm brings forth a top-class draft to this year’s August Two Year Old Sale.

Their draft includes two-year-olds by such proven stallions as Flower Alley, Gimmethegreenlight, Ideal World, Querari, Silvano, and What A Winter, as well as by such exciting young sires as Danon Platina, Erupt and Fire Away.

Former Equus Champion Laverna has Querari colt Underworld (Lot 8) on sale, while former G1 SA Fillies Classic heroine Orchid Island is represented here by Winter Island (Lot 45), a colt sired by multiple champion sprinter What A Winter.

The Wilgerbosdrift bred Feather Boa looks a very exciting prospect for the season ahead, and this draft includes her full-sister Global Gateway (Lot 46), while other exciting lots on offer in this imposing string include Dance Master (Lot 9), a Fire Away half-brother to two graded stakes winners, Yes We Can (Lot 91), a Gimmethegreenlight colt out of G3 winner Sarasota, and Blackberry Breeze (Lot 188). The latter, a colt who shares his outstanding sire Silvano with the aforementioned Sparkling Water, is a half-brother to a pair of talented gallopers in the form of Bayberry and Clafoutis respectively.

Wilgerbosdrift’s draft for the August Sale can be viewed in Blocks F and G at the TBA complex in Germiston.
