Stellenbosch farm, Winterbach Stud, will be offering a very classy string at this Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale.
Not only will Winterbach be offering seven high quality yearlings themselves, the farm will be also offering a further 11 lots as agent.
A quick glimpse at the stallions represented in this draft underlines the class that Winterbach will be bringing to the Cape Sale this year, with the likes of Captain Of All, Erupt, Gimmethegreenlight, Querari, Twice Over and What A Winter just a few of the sires represented in this draft.
Champion Twice Over, whose progeny include dual July winner Do It Again and recent Cape Guineas victor Double Superlative, has two lots on offer. Trippi’s smart daughter Kilauea, a four time winner who was second in the G2 Camellia Stakes, has a Twice Over filly (Lot 1) on sale, while Dual Agent (Lot 62) is a half-sister to three winners notably top-class G1 performer Rascallion.
Champonelle (Lot 88) is a Querari full-brother to the very smart Invincabelle and half-brother to G3 Protea Stakes runner up Laurent Du Var, while prominent sire Querari is also represented here by a colt (Lot 54) whose six time winning dam Seek The Summit shares her sire Elusive Fort with recent G1 WSB Cape Met winner Kommetdieding.
Champion sprinter Captain Of All is the sire of Kindhearted (Lot 95) -a filly out of G3 KIC Fillies Mile runner up Without Malice (a full-sister to G1 Empress Club Stakes heroine Little Miss Magic), while reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight’s sole representative in the Winterbach consignment is Red Moon Rising (Lot 144) -a three-parts sister to the very smart filly Crimson Causeway.
Heirloom (Lot 97) is an Oratorio three-parts sister to G1 Premiers Champion Stakes runner up Ancestry, while the same sire is also responsible for Trusova (Lot 167). The latter is a colt whose G3 placed granddam is a full-sister to Equus Champion, and four time G1 winner Mother Russia.
Bulleteer, a daughter of multiple champion sire Jet Master and from the immediate family of the aforementioned Jet Master, has a colt (Lot 122) by the always popular What A Winter on the sale, while Cat’s Whiskers, a mare from the same family as champion Highland Night, has the only colt (Lot 126) on sale by Dubawi’s G1 SA Nursery winning son Willow Magic.
Another son of the mighty Dubawi represented in the Winterbach draft is dual G1 winner Erupt. The latter, already off the mark with an early winner, has four lots on offer here -including Hot Pearl (Lot 86), a filly whose third dam won the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas, and Chilli Moon (Lot 129), a colt whose dam is a half-sister to the stakes placed dam of this season’s G1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas winner Chansonette.
Other appealing lots in this draft include Duke Of Argyll (Lot 79), a Duke Of Marmalade colt whose dam won seven times, the Visionaire filly (Lot 93) bred on similar lines to Fillies Guineas heroine Heaps Of Fun, and the Global View filly (Lot 96) from the same family as Australian G1 winner September Run.
