WINTERBACH STUD POISED FOR NATIONAL SALE SUCCESS

Nestled between some world renowned wine farms, the exquisite Winterbach Stud is a boarding farm specialising in mare and foal care as well preparing yearlings for sales around South Africa.

Winterbach Stud is run by Hendrik Winterbach and his very capable son, Hendrik Winterbach Jnr. Between them they have over 25 years of experience of stud management, including foaling and sales prep.
Hendrik will forever be remembered as the breeder of the remarkable full-sisters Irridescence and Perfect Promise -both of whom won G1 races overseas!

Star filly Irridescence, the Equus Champion 3YO Classic Female of 2005, made world headlines when she accounted for outstanding racemare Ouija Board, among others, when victorious in the 2006 G1 Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup, while her full-sister Perfect Promise joined a list which includes Australian legends Black Caviar, Lonhro, Elvstroem Redoute’s Choice, and Manikato when she captured the 2006 G1 C F Orr Stakes in Australia.

The farm prides itself on putting the horse first, with Winterbach taking great care with the feeding and working with each individual horse. Great care is taken in feeding, supplementation and personal handling, over and above the regular grooming for the Winterbach yearlings.

A leading fixture at BSA sales throughout the year, Winterbach Stud will be offering another smart string at this year’s National Yearling Sale.

The Cape farm will be offering yearlings by a host of different stallions including proven high-class sires Gimmethegreenlight, Querari, Silvano, Vercingetorix, and What A Winter. Winterbach’s National Sale draft is full of equine gems, including a Potala Palace half-brother (Lot 18) to impressive recent G3 World Sports Betting Man O’War Sprint winner Master Archie, a Querari filly (Lot 70) whose dam is a half-sister to US G1 winner Byrama, a Vercingetorix colt (Lot 259) out of a winning half-sister to current high-class galloper Second Base, and a Silvano half-sister (Lot 337) to Listed Ibhayi Stakes/East Cape Guineas victor Gimme The Stars.
